How do I get more substitute teacher jobs?

I'm registered with the district, but I'm not getting a lot of calls. Any ideas? Thanks!

I don't know where you are but right now, people in my district are on holiday break. If you want more substitute teaching jobs, then maybe consider registering for multiple districts, if that's possible. Finding any job at this time is tough. I was on the sub list for several districts and it took a little while to find my niche...I had to make a big effort to make friends (or if you are a male just be very friendly and talkative) with the secretary at the school I enjoyed teaching at. If you want to get more calls you need to get on teacher's preferred lists. If you haven't built that repore yet then you need to hang in the office at school in the morning and often times people don't show up. Some teachers will go home if they know a sub is in waiting. With all the district lay-offs and not a lot of hiring happening, it's a tough time for anyone to find sub jobs. I have changed districts 3 times in the last 4 years and have had to start over each time to get my name out and start getting calls.
