How can I become a sports analyst, specifically in professional basketball?

I was a student at UC Davis but was dismissed due to poor academic performance. What are the steps to get a job at ESPN or FOX SPORTS as an analyst? I believe I know a great amount of professional basketball and some professional football and I have a huge passion in sports. I also do not want to resume my studies as a mathematics major, but I do plan on attending a community college as a communications or journalism major. Should I also take speech classes?

Commercial television does not need to hire dropouts. They have no credibility. Commercial television hires dummy retired players. Incidentally, don't waste your time studying Communications or Journalism.
