30th birthday:I'd like to get away,out of the US,to a beautiful rejuvenating adventurous place.On budget.Where?

Flying out of LAX, for a few days to a few weeks, whatever works, just want to be out on a traveling adventure mid-may. Where should I go? I really really can't afford all the far-off places i'd like to go to (last time i checked i couldn't afford them anyway, maybe now? I wanted india, nepal, thailand, cambodia, buenos aires, fiji, new zealand, somwhere in brazil, peru, etc etc i said, beautiful and some rejuvinating adventure. or calm). I would love to go to climb machu pichu or hang out with elephants in the water in india..but i'm not sure i can afford that right now. I'd even love to just hike a beautiful landscape and be on a beautiful beach somewhere not as far or as exciting, but i just want to be somewhere else (not the states). I'll have to find budget lodging too. and I can't drive at all, so no rental. Any ideas? (don't say tijuana please. also, no huge shopping centered places, uninteresting). thanks oh and I mean a serious TIGHT budget. as in I don't have a steady job right now, but hope juuuust to save enough to go somewhere. as in the least amount possible. uh no, not waiting until i'm 40. i can try to save a bit and make it out somewhere by may. not helpful. Mexico is ok, but as a last resort, since i've been to baja a bunch of times and it's ok but not the kind of rejuvenating i was thinking. at all. well obviously the flights are what makes those expensive, that's why i'm asking for good ideas here! obviously most of these places i want to go to will be cheap if the flights weren't included, i mean come on, was that a real answer there??? seriously, I hope you're a young kid, otherwise....please have mr.palm meet mr. face. Thanks, but I've already worked and lived abroad for a couple of years. I just wanted something for my birthday time, which yes will be that maximum year you said. Airfare is still the prob to NZ, i'd have no issues doing work stay for a couple of weeks otherwise. And I generally don't have an attitude, get along great with people in other countries. Just need somewhere that wouldn't cost so much getting to (like less than $500)

Panama, Cambodia, The Phillipines, Argentina, Namibia, Bangladesh. If you can afford the flight to get to any of these places (flights have become crazy expensive) then these are the places to go. They're all beautifully exotic and you can stay there for under $50 a day!

You might still be young enough to apply for a Working Holiday Visa which means you can travel and work in some of those countries for up to a year ( think the maximum age is 30 so step on it!) Keep in mind if you are planning out traveling mid-May on, if you go to the southern hemisphere (New Zealand, Fiji, etc) that... More

an all-inclusive hotel somewhere on the Mayan Riviera (south of Cancun) would fill the bill. You have some natural wonders, various places with activities, the Mayan ruins {which rival those of Egypt} as well as laying around on the beach in the sun (or playing in the pool) when you like, sipping whatever you like to...
