As a Substitute Teacher, how do you deal with staff that undermine your authority?

I am a NYC Substitute Teacher. Through out my sub career, I've had a few teachers, one assistant principal, and one principal either talk down to me, yell at me, or undermine my authority. I feel like they look down on subs. I have my teaching certifications but no job yet. Only current or previous substitute teachers should respond.

tell them that without you, when they're not there, the kids would not be taught. not so great for them...also, tell any assistant principles that you were sent there to help them, and you are doing them a favour. after the lesson or whenever, ask them to back off (but more politely), and say that this is how you deal... Stand up and tell them that unlike them you don't depend on a barely stable job, and can dabble if you want.
