How can intellectual property patents survive in a society with indefinite growth potential?

For example Big Pharmacy's sued Indian pharmacies because they supply better/cheaper HIV meds to Africa. One of many possible examples. What if eating with "tools" was intellectual property of some big company and you decide to copy/paste this useful skill and spread the enlightenment across friends so they too can copy/paste it. The big multinational would obviously lose a lot of money and jobs,

If your Big Pharma has not been issued a patent in each and every country where it sells its stuff, then it has absolutely no legal basis to prevent anyone from competing there.
