Bankers Life and Casualty Interview... a scam?

Bankers Life and Casualty contacted me through email after claiming to have read my resume on Monster.com. Saying I would be a good fit for the company. It did not tell me what the position was, nor explained it. I have years of sales experience in retail. But do not have experience in selling insurance. I went to the first interview, here in Jacksonville, FL. They asked that I dress business professional, but I have never been asked that by an employer. There were 29 people in the group during this 2 hour interview given by one guy, which consisted of a presentation about health and casualty insurance, what their company does, and then a very brief explanation on commission for a sales agent at the end of the group interview. 3 people walked out during the group interview, and 1 of them walked out after the first 30 minutes. We were told we could not ask questions until we were invited to the 2nd interview. At the end of this first interview we were asked to fill out a short form with a few questions and leave a copy of our resume. Wouldn't they already have our resume if they found it online? Apparently, from what I gathered, some of us would be coming back for the 2nd of a 3 interview process. I was called back 2 hours later to come in again for another 2 hour group interview, which is tomorrow. Since then, I have looked up information on the company and the interview process. Most of what I am finding are tons of people saying they have wasted their time going to the interviews, and calling it a Scam. This is selling insurance to the older generation. It is 100% commission based and no benefits. I am a hard working, motivated guy always looking for challenges. I have been in management in the retail industry and sales, but want to try new challenges. Also, apparently you have to pay for it yourself to get your insurance license. I would be willing to try a challenging job as this seems to be, but I am worried about this job being too good to be true. Has anyone heard anything about this company and it's interview process? Or know of this actually being a scam and waste of time?...As alot of people are posting about this being a scam on Indeed and many other website. If anyone has any information for me, please share it with me if you have time to post to this. I would greatly appreciate anyone's comments, whether positive or negative. Thank you very much.

why do you think it's a scam? people these days just love to use that word far too much. I think. Anyways, I actually went through the same "interview" but I call it more like a training seminar. They do have a pretty good system and you can do well if you keep at it at Bankers. This was how I got my insurance... More

Yes it is a scam. A legitimate employer contacts you directly, I was contacted by some third party. A job is a job, an employer needs to make an investment in you not the other way around.

Thank you, ?. I definitely don't think you work for Bankers, now. And I definitely don't think you're being paid by them as a form of controlled opposition to say positive things about their company on the web...

Yes it is some sort of ploy to where you end up going to these "training" seminars. Eventually you'll have to invest money and alot of time to be lucky if you make $20 by the end of month. Every time I put an application with a different job site I'm contacted by one of these Managers from Banker Life. I once went to... More

I thought I'd share the resent experience I just went through, which is the rudest "interview" I have ever attended, with Bankers Life and Casualty in Swansea, IL. I had been to plenty of these insurance hiring scams before, so I knew what to expect, and I had even turned down an interview with Bankers before when I... More
