Do military manufacturers make stuff so it willl break down and the govt will buy more?

Or use lower quality materials and plastics when making tanks and planes to save cost? Is any of the stuff made in China? It seems natural for a company to seek profit

Not purposely. But government contracts go to the company that claims that they can make what you need cheapest. Lowest bidder doesn't exactly guarantee high quality. But at the same time, a contractor who routinely turns out equipment that's defective is going to lose a choice government contract. It has to be good... More

Theres an arms embargo against china, so NO weapons used by the US or Europe are made in china.
