How hard is it to become an animator?

I am planning on pursuing animation as a career. I have some experience with animation, but I am still new to it. Any advice from someone who may be a professional animator? Is it an entertaining job, and is there even a chance of me getting somewhere?

If you have the passion and drive it will just happen, animating can be very demanding and time consuming especially if you are more interested in the traditional hand drawn side of things. I would suggest getting a copy of "the animators survival kit" and thoroughly reading it and practicing the principles he covers... More

I've read before that a head animator does the basic sketches and different poses that define the biggest transition and gesture/movement/expression..and then other animators go in afterward and like add more pictures between the crucial frames so it's not all on that one person (like 24 frames(images) per second) More
