What are the causes of our current recession?

I'm working on an essay for history and have to compare today's recession with the Great depression. I know the causes of the great depression but i don't know about how this one started. ( I need to have 5 similarities or differences. ) Can someone help me?

Well you can blame Bush and Obama for this.
