If i bought my own phone are my parents allowed to install monitoring software on it?

I bought my own droid and pay for my own service every month while working a job. It's $80 a month. I am 16 years old and my parents took my phone away from me to install "Spectorsoft" on it. It monitors my location, what sites I go to, what apps I use, and ALL of my text messages. I am wondering since I pay for everything on the phone is it legal for them to do that? And if it IS in fact legal give me an opinion on if you think it's an invasion of privacy that they did this,

As a minor, you do not have many rights. The phone and your wages are legally under their control. The contract you signed with the service provider, unless your parents co-signed, is probably voidable, meaning that either party may cancel it.
