If i bought my own phone are my parents allowed to install monitoring software on it?

I bought my own droid and pay for my own service every month while working a job. It's $80 a month. I am 16 years old and my parents took my phone away from me to install "Spectorsoft" on it. It monitors my location, what sites I go to, what apps I use, and ALL of my text messages. I am wondering since I pay for everything on the phone is it legal for them to do that? And if it IS in fact legal give me an opinion on if you think it's an invasion of privacy that they did this,

Legally, because your are not yet 18 the answer is yes, they can. But morally, I don't think that it is right. Oh, by the way, I'm 67 years old and would never have done something like this to my kids.
