What are some good group topics to discuss with elderly women in a nursing home?

I am student social worker doing my internship in a nursing home. I will be starting a group with several older women and was looking for some topic ideas to discuss. It should be something light and that will give everyone an opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings and also learn something. Thank you! I like what Laura said to talk about their past but how can I do it in a structured way so that they all get a chance to talk and there's some form to the group?

A lot of people believed in living life to its fullest and forgetting about their creator. Some of them are probably worried if they will go to heaven, knowing they sinned a lot over the years. It is never to late to repent and ask for God's forgiveness. Jesus died on the Cross so mankind can pay for their sins. They... More

First group meeting ask them what they like or do a survey. Then you can use the most popular things for a theme at the next group discussions. For example, perhaps some of those residents used to garden or travel or had hobbies. Think those would be good discussions if they are interested. You could also get them to... More
