Should I call a job to see if they looked at my resume?

I know that you should always call retail jobs, restaurants, etc to see if they looked at your application and to try to get a job. But, I applied to a few professional jobs at a hospital and I'm not sure if I should call. My friend works there, and she gave me the phone number to the HR director. I kinda just feel weird because this lady is going to be confused as to how I have her direct number. I also don't know the etiquette behind calling about professional jobs as opposed to just part time retail jobs.

NEVER contact potential employers - regardless of industry - to see if they have looked at your resume. It makes YOU look unprofessional and completely unemployable AND wastes their TIME.

If you get put through to the HR office just be polite and professional and ask if any decision has been made and that... More
