Not sure what to do about this?

Joining the army has been a long time dream of mine, and now that i am almost 17 it is beginning to look like a possibility. The rangers has been a goal i have been working for and i have already started preparing. My father wants me to go to college for 4 years first, but knowing how hard highschool is for me i just can't see myself lasting in college. He says if i don't go to college he will cut me off and not support anything I do. If i do go to college then join can i be an officer in the rangers? If so what steps should i take to do this. I don't want to get stuck at a desk doing paper work in the army.
