Aircraft sheet metal pay and per diem for sheetmetal work?

Aircraft sheet metal workers, I'm told the pay starts at 24 per hour. But a per diem is factored in which ends up giving you an actual 7.45 an hour taxable. The recruiter tells me guys who have been doing sheet metal for 20+ years are only making 24 per hour also. Why would I be told that when the average pay is around 35 per hour according to yahoo?

Ask the question again when you have the qualifications. By then you'll know. Don't try to figure what your g0ing to do by the pay. You still have to qualify.
