What type of job should I go to school for in this economy?

I'm curious as to where the money is. I have no clue what to do for a job that will support me when I move out of my house. What kind of schooling can I get that can be used? Sorry typo, what kind of degree / certificate can I get that I can actually use?

The economy does not need any more general BA grads. You're better off either taking a 4yr apprenticeship in some decent trade, or getting a STEM degree. These days I see many job listings for Machinists and Tool & Die Makers. I see none for Sociology grads...

I would say that engineering is the best, but the hard part is making it through school. I'm on my last semester in Electrical Engineering at Texas A&M and I have already had two interviews. I didn't get anywhere near a good gpa, but most companies looking for engineers do not care so much about gpas.
