What jobs/medical conditions would keep a man from fighting in WW1 for Germany?

I'm writing a story set in Germany and I need to know what jobs/medical conditions would have kept a man in the 18-35 year range from be drafted into the war. Also, since WW1 began on June 28th 1914, were men who were drafted shipped right off to war immediately or was there a period of months until they were? Just please give me the 411 on all of this please! Typically how long did training last for guys who were drafted that didn't have previous military experience?
