Can a waiter/waitress ask for my ID after I drink alcohol?

They can if they suspect something is amiss given that you did not order the alcoholic beverage and suddenly you are the one drinking it. It's a matter of them protecting themselves from fines or lawsuits.

it's the law for them to check it. so yes, if someone buys a drink and you sip it, or they give it to you, it's the obligation of the restaurant/establishment and therefore the waiter/waitress to check your ID.
