How many believe 0bama's claim that we only have 2% of the world's oil ?

He constantly says we only have 12 billion barrel underground in the entire country, while the Dept of Energy estimates there are 400 billion barrels and energy analysts say there are over 1.2 trillion barrel, enough to last 200 years! Why doesn't the left acknowledge that we should be using the oil that we have available until a true viable alternative is found, instead of all of these taxpayer funded debacles?

I sure that whoever fed him that line on the teleprompter had SOME basis for making the claim.

That sounds about right. We might have 25% of the worlds natural gas, but oil? We've just about used all of that up.
Answered By: King Of New York 2012! - 3/22/2012
It's false because he gives a slanted answer. He doesn't include Americas oil reserves. That means oil that we know we have that we are not presently drilling for. Politicians will always spin in their direction. Please pick me as best answer.

Embarking financially on an experimental, costly venture during a time of economic instability - is a train wreck waiting to happen.

I have heard from different sources, that actually have 'expertise' in the industry that say otherwise. I don't know how he has the time to scan , (or whatever they do) the whole country all by himself while he is President. I thought the Secret Service would see that as a security risk.
Answered By: Squilliam Fancyson - 3/22/2012 its only 1.5% but we consume 25% but be like how 1% of the US population owns 90% of the money

That's because he isn't giving us the truth. Estimates are we have 60 times that much oil. 2% is PROVEN reserves (been drilled for) which are at 20 billion barrels... It was 20 billion barrels back in 1940s too. Because we haven't "proven" the estimated oil yet.

his priorities aren't straight. we should be working on the debt and the economy and THEN start thinking about alternative energy. and the money doesn't just come from taxpayers. obama can print money and give it away too.

ANWR is estimated to have 3.5 billion barrels. The United States uses 7.3 billion barrels of oil per year. Do the math.

One thing I do know, is that scientists have recently found the largest natural gas reserve in the world in North Dakota.

Can you prove it isnt?
Answered By: Cheyenne - 3/22/2012
the 2% number is bogus. What is also bogus is the context of the argument in which the "2%" is used. "We have 2% of the world's oil but use 25% of oil reserves." The logic of this argument is flawed.
