Becoming a police officer: If I follow all of the steps am I guaranteed a job?

I am 19 years old and in college. I'm going to discontinue my college education for personal and financial reasons. I am in excellent physical condition and very intelligent. If I follow all of the steps (police academy, background checks, etc.) am I guaranteed a job in law enforcement?

No. Getting police officer jobs is becoming more and more competitive. When police departments hire, they usually have many qualified applicants for a relatively few number of openings.
