Why does Westboro Church protest the funeral of other people other than gays and such?

I understand that Westboro is one messed up church that needs to disappear, and the acts they do are disgusting. I also understand that they protest gays death and such saying that they deserve it- again disgusting church. But what I don't get is why they protests soldiers deaths and superstars like that hard rock singer and Steve Jobs. Im pretty sure Steve Jobs isn't gay and hasn't done anything "against God" so why are they protesting his funeral and others alike when they are not gay or anything.

It's simple, they act outrageously, get assaulted for it, then sue the people who assaulted them! Fred Phelps is a disbarred attorney, and apparently he was one heavy-duty litigator in his day! Therefore their choice of "please beat me up" for fund-raising is not so surprising.

Thos guys are so nuts peanuts must look at them and think "those guys are nuts". I dont think there is any explaining their need to preach hatred and try and cause trouble, its entirely stupid and baseless.

Now you have any nut bag in the world claiming to be a protestant, and wanting to make their own church for their defiled own ways. These people make... More

Like most churches, they are following the interpretation of Christianity that best fits their preconceived beliefs. This has grown out of the teachings of Christian Churches for the last 1700 years, where they ignore the basic teaching of Christ in favor of what is expedient. God is not killing soldiers over the Gay... More

Just business. They try to piss off as many people as possible so that someone will react to them, then they sue them for hindering their free speech.
