what jobs can i land with a major in astronomy?

i have half of this year (junior) than senior year than off to college i go and im really thinking astronomy is what i want to do. i love astronomy and all of the things about it. so what jobs in the outside world can i get with a major in astronomy and what else am i possibly gonna have to major in to get that job? thanks. the reason i ask is because ive also looked into a history major and seen you could be a lawyer somehow? idk just being curious

The working degree in astronomy is a Ph.D., and very few jobs are available at that level. But maybe you could get a technician job, especially if you are really good with computers.

While there are plenty of jobs you can get with any science major, there are very few that would use your knowledge of astronomy. Most of the jobs in astronomy are research or university-level teaching jobs (or some combination) and require a PhD in astronomy or physics. If those are the jobs you're interested in... More
