How to convince my father that Obama isn't that bad?

He doesn't want to see the good things he's done during his presidency but points out only the bad things. Compared to the previous republican president Obama was definitely better.

He doesn't want to acknowledge the fact that Obama can make the economy better.

He will vote anyone but Obama and I want him to do otherwise. How can I convince him?

He's 60 years old and I'm 24.

Start by doing some research on the economists who've almost UNIVERSALLY agreed that the economy's better off with Obama's moves. Even conservative economists say we'd be far, far worse off without the bailouts. The problems with the bailouts were caused not by Obama but rather by the bankers themselves.
I'd also use the candidate's website once that's up and running. While obviously biased (it's not intended not to be) it will have a good deal of information about what's gone right the last four years.

There are bad points AND good points to Obama, but I believe the bad outweigh the good - that's only my opinion, though! You shouldn't aim to change his mind, but rather to enlighten him with the good points (if he's ignorant to them). Then, just allow him to make his up his own decision based on a greater knowledge of the subject.
Hope I helped :)

I recommend telling him the best things President Obama has done so far in his presidency. However, if he's a stubborn, jackass-like Republican, PLEASE remind him that a lot of people have been disappointed in him because he was the next president after the 8 years of Bush hell that was dumped on us. These things take time, people!
Answered By: TyDi - 4/23/2012
Uhk Obama is doing the exact thing as Bush, which would make him worse then Bush because he hasn't learn the lessons from Bush. Even the good things he did wasn't that good. Killing Osama has gotten us in further hot waters with Pakistan. Getting Khadaffi endangers us with even far more radical leader and sends a message to other dictators not to botherr complying to our demand, because we would still try to kill them if they do comply. He did go after marijuana dispensary, but he took too long and allowed them to violate interstate commerce laws and allow them to run amuck. He probably sayign something similar to you. Trying to figure out how to convince you to realize how bad Obama is. Just respect your elders. YOu do not need to believe what he believes, but age do come with wisdom. he might not be as smart as you, but I am willing to wager he is far more wiser then you.

You are probably over whelm with the media and your friends opinion of Bush. Bush is not a horrible President, he's not a good one either. He's a mediocre President. Your young and haven't seen too many President and don't know what to expect from them. You only probably remember Bush and Clinton. YOu haven't seen what other recessions are like either. YOU are suffering normal anxiety because it's tough times, but unlike how the media protray this, it's not the worse think that has happen in the last century, nor is it the worse think for the last 50 years. No President is perfect, and you expect too much of them. People over exaggerate how much Bush cause the recession. he had a hand on it, but so did Clinton, so did Reagan and so did other people. How much, is to be argued, but we can't fully blame him. Most of it is out of control. Frankly the people most responsible is us and are irresponsible spending habits. Keep that in mind when you talk to your father. Hes been through alot more then you, and is far mroe able to see the bigger picture. I have the same problem with my fatehr at times. He's not colelge educated and stuborn. He thinks he knows stuff that is out of his experience, but I have to admit, there otehr things he udnerstand more. He went through far mroe then I did. He went through the depression, and certain things I have to rely on him.

You're on the right track. It's important to believe the lie before you can honestly convince another person that such a lie is true.

I think the best argument you can make is that with all the Debt Obama is ready slam on us, he probably won't be alive to see the youth of this nation completely and totally enslaved due to the massive amount of debt taken on behalf of the American People. Seriously, all the "good" Obama's going to do will be paid for by other people in the future. The buck doesn't stop with your daddy's generation if Obama thinks it's ok.

Frankly, I don't personally see a difference between Bush, Clinton, Bush and Obama. They're all slowly eroding our national sovereignty and just pass the blame around. Obama's a puppet just like the rest of them. The best thing you can do is educate your self. Turn the T.V. off and stop believing the pile junk they force feed down people's throats.

Seriously, Ron Paul is the last hope for this nation. I don't seriously believe, however, that anyone will succeed Obama... ever. I believe this country is dumb enough to make him president for life... or at least that Obama is will to take that power grab and I don't believe enough Americans will really be willing to do something about it.

At your age we expect nothing but ignorance. You were educated by our demcrat, unionized government teachers, most of whom are fully behind the demcrat party which believes in:

11/11/44, democrat FDR’s Address to Congress:
“We have accepted, so to speak, a second Bill of Rights under which a new basis of security and prosperity can be established for all—regardless of station, race, or creed."
He goes on to list these "rights":
-The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation
-The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation
-The right of every family to a decent home
-The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health
-The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment

Decades before FDR set forth his subversive agenda another socialist, demcrat Pres. Woodrow Wilson, said:
“You are not here merely to make a living. You are here to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, and with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world. You impoverish yourself if you forget this errand.”
Wilson may have been the founder of the perverse notion of "multiculturalism," saying: “No nation is fit to sit in judgment upon any other nation.”

It is transparently clear that the democrat party and their drones are achieving socialism in America. That they are destroying the Constitution means nothing to them.

-2/4/10 Gallup poll: 61?f liberals have a positive view of socialism versus 17?mong Republicans.
-6/2/11 Gallup poll: 71?f democrats favor re-distributing wealth.

Maybe what charms you about Obama is the way he unites us with his wonderful rhetoric, saying things like:
-“They Bring a Knife…We Bring a Gun”
-“Get in Their Faces!”
-“I don’t want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry! I’m angry!”
-“Hit Back Twice As Hard”
-”We talk to these folks… so I know whose ass to kick.”
-“hand to hand combat”
-“It’s time to Fight for it.”
-“Punish your enemies.”
-“I’m itching for a fight.”
(to verify just google the quote and there'll be a video of him saying it)

First of all, your father has the right to vote for who ever he wants and you shouldn't want to or try to change that.

Second, the last real president we had was Ronald Reagan. Everyone after Ronald Reagan are just puppets.

Obama got into office based on how bad the economy was and how bad the national debt was. Everyone voted for a Democrat because Bush was a Republican and the economy went to shit under Bush. If Obama wasn't a candidate, whoever was the Democrat would have won.
Obama promised to fix it- our debt. Instead, he's more than doubled it.

Now, I understand that it does take awhile to undo the mayhem from the last president, BUT, if you were in debt, say 20,000, it would probably be a smart idea to pay it off before borrowing, say, another 20,000 dollars to spend on federal programs. Federal programs are nice when you have money, but we don't. We also don't have money to spend liberating Iran, Iraq, Syria, Libya, and all those countries..

Obama promised to bring soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan home. Some came home, but not all like he promised. Not only that, but more are being sent there and to countless other countries that we have no business in.

Yes, thinks SUCK over there, but if you had no money and no job, but you stored canned food, wouldn't you feed your family first before feeding neighbors? You would. That's what our government needs to do.

We aren't of much help to any other nation when we are doing so badly.

We need to fix this country before worrying about what's going on in every other country.

Bottom line, Republicans and Democrats are all corrupt. I used to be a Republican but I'm no longer on any side because I honestly don't have one ounce of trust left in our government.

Since Obamas 4 year term there are more people on welfare than ever before.
He got the US credit downgraded - first president in history.
Allowed one of the biggest oil spills in history because he allowed BP to skip safety inspections.
Highest unemployment rate than ever before...

I'm sorry, what? How isn't he bad?

You can't. Obama is terrible. He actually REACHED the debt ceiling and spent 5 TRILLION dollars.

You'd be better off to listen to your Dad on this one. Once you open your eyes and ears and actually pay attention to what Obama's (and most of the other liberal politicians) true goals are, you won't support him either.
Answered By: limit-my-Govt. - 4/23/2012
The truth is, he can make his own choices and his own opinions. You can not control his vote-- Nor should you. You can only control your own vote.

I am a liberal my sister is a Con with kids in the military-- in her mind all Liberals are anti Troops. I am very active in helping our troops (way more then she is) My husband is Air force and when our sister went to Iraq I am the one who watched her son. I follow every vote of every congress man and vote accordingly. Most librals that I know do what I do. and yet my sister throws everyone-- Including me into the "you hate the troops" bunch. Anytime I do anything for her kids she questions my motives. Everyone elese in the family understands and knows my heart- Everyone else in the family knows I love and suport our troops-- and yet there is nothing I can do to change my sisters mind.

Sometimes you just have to leave things be and do your best on your own.

So today I went in for an interview and I was going in for the 2nd interview by the head chief executive. now this is where it got weird, so she asked me about my previous jobs and said how much she liked that product over that product. then she started talking about her daughter? an her divorce ...then how she didn't finish college because she was making more money doing what she did for this company ... then she talked about how her teenage daughter is a handful... I just played it cool thinking she was using some sort of psychology thing to trick me into saying something stupid. the interview ended and she seemed happy an I was escorted to the door... now I'm freaking confused? is this normal behavior for an executive? like it felt like she was going to burst into tears at one point and tell me her life problems... is this normal? was she trying to see how I react or something?

Basically- no degree, although I have tried completing one in the past and stopped because of physical and mental health issues which were overwhelming to deal with along with going to classes full time. I'm not stupid and I am quite articulate. I am 23 and have only worked for about two years retail in high school and stopped working to go to university. I worked a few months in 2010 retail after I dropped out but it was only a seasonal position, and the only reason why I have not been able to constantly work is because of mental health issues. I had also tried going back to community college during my free time since i left university in 2008/9 and I had panic attacks while in community college, which made my anxiety worse from then on. Well recently I met a good doctor and he prescribed me some meds that are stabilizing my moods and I feel the best I've felt in years, and I'm ready to work. Thing is, I don't know how to get a job now since I've spent literally years being depressed and anxious doing nothing. I don't really have anything to put on my resume, and I never finished my AA degree either. All I've done is cashiering and although I do the job well and I get promoted easily when I do these jobs because I'm a hard worker and I try to go above and beyond what they ask of me,which is the attitude I have no matter what kind of work I'm doing as long as I'm getting paid. But I hate cashiering because it's too easy and I want a job that is more interesting. Any suggestions for me on how to get a job that is NOT Retail with the type of background I have right now? I also realize I have to go to college to get certain types of jobs, I am talking about what I can do right here right now.

For the career fair I'm thinking of wearing just my nice shirt and a skirt with low heels. My reasoning being it's approachable and attractive without going overboard since the career fair hosts are mostly younger male recent grads. I want to be remembered but not intimidating. For my interviews I was thinking pants, suit jacket (power suit). My reasoning being it'll be older execs and HR people (mostly women) so less sexy with the pants but more powerful with the suit jacket. What do you think?!
