Should I negotiate my salary?

I am a first year senior tax accountant (public), in my area the range for salaries is 51-65K. I have reason to believe I'm probably paid slightly lower than someone with the same experience (i get 53K). Now - that's needed to consider what you would do in this job offer. I have a job offer for a tax researching position. Unfortunately there is little out there to tell me if the offer of 51K is average, worse, or better. I don't want to risk losing the offer as I think I'd be a better fit for this job. Although it's slightly less, the pros are: -40 hours/week, my current place I probably average 48hours/week over the whole year -They pay better health, this makes up for the pay disparity -I would enjoy this work much more Ultimately, I'm OK with the offer, I just want to make sure that I'm on par, what would you do?

I always negotiate my salaries lol. But I don't make statements suggesting I will not take the job at the current offer. I just say, " I was looking for a job in the $$$ range, is there any way we can get a little closer to that offer?" If they say no. Then I quickly accept their other offer.

Have you checked out They have a career research center that shows salary as well as other non-salary factors (commute time, benefits, etc) that can help you negotiate a fair compensation for that position:
