Doing more harm then good?

I am a little new to Yahoo answers but been answering a bunch of questions about depression and suicide. To start off I am now finding happiness and dealing with depression successfully by meds and yearly doctors visits. I been diagnosed with severe depression, anxiety, and PDS. I have seen a lot of sad, painful, and scary things in my life. I was in combat for two years in the U.S. Air Force. I got an honorable discharge but did not complete my tour due to injures. Got blown up in a Jet Engine malfunction. So even though I got a honorable discharge at rank of Tech sargent, purple hart, and a medal of valor, I feel I did not finish the job. Also I buried my dad at ten, died in house fire. Grew up in the hard part of town, and seen shootings nightly. Don't get me wrong I AM NOT complaining, I had a great life, just seen a lot of bad things. Just put all that in there to make a point that I know that life is messed up sometimes. Anyways I was told that I should go on yahoo answers to get some help on cooking when I seen some questions that I could relate to. Suicide, depression, fear questions where coming up and I had to help steer the people in a better direction. Do not want anyone to go through what I went through. In the past I did not tell anybody about what I was feeling depressed and suicidal until it was too late. Now I know that I am not a doctor (I am currently a server at a restaurant, and a online fire safety instructor) but I did go through all of that. I tried three times to end my life, something I am not proud of, the last attempt put me in the psych ward for a week. Being stuck with drug addicts, schizophrenic, and fellow suicides did not help matters out. I was not until I finally decided to go to psychologist and got on a med that helped. I did find peace and happiness, with help from my girlfriend and family. So I feel that I can help a little, but I still feel that since I am not a psychologist I might not be a good help. Should I stop? Anyways any comment or insight will help, until I hear back from the web I will no longer do answers to mental help questions. My lovely girl states that I should not be so hard on myself but I like a second and third opinion. So give me some insight, Thank you.

Your lovely girl is right, Joe. I won't go into detail but please believe me when I tell you that I've seen more pain and suffering than at least ten people see in one lifetime. Add to that that I and my brother both are manic/depressive. Luckily, after years of suffering, they found a medication that helps me. It's... More
