Which job would you pursue?

I'm thinking about choosing one of the two careers I'm pretty interested in. I'm a patient, energetic 22 year old guy who loves to help people. I'm well with kids, and I do care for others. I work out by boxing, and I try to keep myself in good shape as possible. I had a talent for drawing and doing Graphic Design, but my talent pretty much died when I went to school for it. I just see myself drawing and doing side projects as a hobby....especially since the job market for that field is, it's too difficult to find a job for it. Now, I'm a guy who's able to pick up on any type of job if they're able to train me. I've been thinking about what job (or career) I can pursue that will get me out of the retail minimum wage life. A job that I can grow with over time, and make steady income (I'm not a big spender). I asked myself, if there was any job I would want to learn that's brand new to me, what would it be? So, being a Firefighter or a Dental Assistant came up in my head. No pressure at all when I think about it. One hand, being a Firefighter can be rewarding when it comes to saving people. Pay is pretty steady (not much how some people put it, but still enough for me), and the energy it delivers whenever that alarm starts ringing and it's time to check out the fire. I know it's dangerous, but I tend to look at the finer things in life. As for the Dental Assistant idea, I see it as fun job to learn and grow with. I've heard employment is pretty good within that job field, and salary is decent. Pretty much provides a relaxing environment to make people feel like home (from my last appointment at the dentist office). My family is known for taking up a good paying job and work with it as well as grow with it. My dad didn't like working retail and at a factory, so he joined the military before I was born. My mom didn't like the position she was in 7 years ago, so she took a contracting job. Just like them, I'm able to try out something new that can give me steady income and work with it. I just don't know which one to choose. I was thinking about getting my Sociology degree awhile ago....but..you know. Which one would you guys recommend and why?

Firefighter sounds pretty good. Not liking the Dental Assistant idea because as a guy, you may find it hard to get work. Sure, there are lots of jobs for women, but it's traditionally a woman's job, and there is a glass ceiling to getting to higher income a mile thick (it's carved out as a role for the second... More
