Any mothers in the us army or Maines?

I am a mother of 2 daughters. One is 4 and the other is going to turn 1. I have been thinking of joining the army or marines for some time now but obviously having doubts. I have wanted to do this since High school but at the time I had my first daughter so I stopped thinking about it. My MAJOR concern are my kids. There father doesnt agree wtth me to join but i want to.. If i do my problem is I feel like I am being selfish. Although there are many things that can be good for my kids in this I feel like the time I would spend away would make them suffer not having a mother for that time. What does everyone think? If you were a mother would you do it if this was something you really wanted to do?

I did enlist but I did so before I had my children........... if your husband is not on board then they will not let you enlist. I think you are 5 years too late to be thinking about this move to be honest.

Single parents join the military too. You need to of course find suitable guardians your children while you are away in... More

Married? You have 3 dependents for Marines you will need a waiver for that. You also have to know that you will spend 13 weeks at Recruit Training, 10 days off then off to MOS school for a time depending on what your MOS is can be from a few weeks to over a year. That means little contact with your children. You can... More
