What's the best bank to start a savings and checking account at for a college freshman?

I start college in September and should be getting a job within 2 weeks. What bank do think would work well with me? The banks in my area include Wells Fargo (This is a last resort. I'm not too fond of them based on what they charge my parents), TD Bank, PNC Bank, and Bank of America.

There is no best bank, best credit union, or best bank account, Lisa. You need to look at the totality of the each bank’s or credit union’s services, accounts, and fees. Opinon: I like PNC the best. Just google their websites and find out how much they require as a minimum deposit for checking accounts. Also make notes of any monthly fees and what minimum balance they require to avoid fees. Credit Unions are usually the best for those starting out. Are there any near that school?

Bank of America has pretty high fees too, so that's probably not your best option. I was happy with PNC bank, though I closed that account because they didn't have a branch by my college. Credit unions are awesome, have minimal fees, and let you use ATMs for free at any other credit union. Only slight issue is that you... More
