Medicaid covering what my insurance won't?
I work a part time job, and my husband is a graduate student. Between his stipend, and what I'm making, it's about $28k in the end. I'm on my own private insurance because putting me the GSA plan my husband has through the graduate school, it's about $1800 a SEMESTER. (Insane.) Now, we're making enough money to cover our bills and have about $800 extra a month laying around. If we really stick to the budget. My insurance only covers about 80% of the maternity appointments. Then it kicks in after my deductible for the labor and delivery. My deductible is $7,500 (!!), and knowing how much a hospital stay cost is these days, I'm freaking out a little bit. Does Medicaid COVER what my insurance won't? If I can even get it? I applied today, just in case, but I'm really worried now. I am looking for a full time job in the mean time, but we're in a small college town and my options are pretty limited. I'll be lucky if I can find one. I'm pregnant, so I don't know if that'll boost my chances. We make about $200 less than the monthly income limit for our state (when you factor in that I'm pregnant. If I wasn't, we'd make way too much.)

Welfare qualifications are different in each state. Also, most states increase the income limit if you are pregnant which makes it easier to qualify. Since you've already applied you should have gotten the information on the limits of your state during or before the application process. If not, look it up on your state... More

Medicaide helps but won't pay all you need. You probably won't be approved.
