Is Acne worth treating if there is no solution?

I have experienced difficulty with my acne since I turned 11. I'm going to turn 16 and my acne is still a huge confidence crusher for me. I have already done tons of research trying to find something other than treatments full of empty promises that only leave the situation worse than when I started. I'm getting very frustrated. I know topical treatments are a waste of time, I've tried many things and I know the dangers of the ingredients in the treatments, and how harmful they are. It's not very severe, but I don't feel like going outside anymore at all. I feel like I'm missing out on so much, and at times it even becomes painful. I'm sick of it. I understand that no cure exists, even though one by now could happen, but if the dermatologists didn't send you from treatment to treatment they wouldn't have a job. I'm thinking of just starting to apply makeup, but I really don't want to do that. I know about Accutane and all those "Promising products, but they are a fatal down the road and I'm not going there. I feel like the only thing I can do is get some kind of pore shrinking surgery, or have some laser cut down on sebum production. Is there anything out there that truly works?
