If Conservatives are so intent on self-reliance and avoiding government assistance, then why is it that those?

counties in New York State which most consistently vote Republican also happen to be the ones with the highest rates of unemployment, the greatest number of people receiving food stamps and liheap payments, the highest percentage of their population living on long term disability and the highest high-school drop out rates? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemung_County,_New_York#Demographics http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steuben_County,_New_York Also, these two counties are both more than 90% white.

I agree. Notice that republicans destroy unions and ship jobs overseas. Doing that causes the need for social services So what's their solution? Why ship more jobs overseas and bust more unions of course. Of which puts America on a downward spiral to the bottom.

Also, it's a fact that liberals receive more food stamps and general welfare than conservatives, while simultaneously giving less to charity. Facts are hard for libs to grasp, I'... More

In the bottom feeder havens like New York City, they simply make a career out of food stamps and welfare, voting for the politician who promises to keep providing it.
