The morale at the Met because of this and the Ian Tomlinson case must be at rock bottom. Common sense says don't make the cuts now, but I don't think Cameron is in the real world. Unlike him, we don't have armed bodyguards and can see the perfect storm that is looming.

It could be construed as a poor reflection on the policy of the government in regarding to policing, unless the cut in police jobs results in greater efficiency at less cost to the taxpayer. The police hierarchy are very angry at the government over cuts to funding and loss of personnel. That is why they are inventing riots this summer. Oh what do we do then with so few police? Same as the last riots, nothing until it was TOO LATE.
