Would working voluntary in a Charity shop give me good (Shop) Work Experience?

I'm currently out of work and have lack of experience in any form of job except bar, although that was also a disaster. I was just wondering anyway coz i have been offered a temp job in a charity job, unpaid of course, but i'm just wondering would it help me by teaching me how tills work etc? And would it give me the experience in need to then qualify to work in other shops as a full time job? Thanks if you can reply!
