what jobs are there in the animal science/agriculture field?

I want to go to school to become a large animal veterinarian but incase it doesn't work out my mom wants me to have a back up plan. I want to stay in the agriculture field and still be able to work with animals but I don't know what other jobs are available. I want to work with the horses, cows, pigs, chicken, and all the farm animals if possible. If I cant make it into vet school, I may consider becoming an agriculture teacher but it doesn't pay well. If anyone knows of other job options please let me know! thanks!

Get a biology undergrad/grad degree...if vet school doesn't work out there are many ag jobs with chemical or large agri companies...you can work with developing foods for the farm animals, which will require some hands on work too...good luck

Look on the agri-business side. A friend of mine was doing middle-man stuff selling to distributors I think and he was making $100K+ right out of college. Kansas State University has a great agriculture department.

I'm thinking Zoo worker. Lots of animals, and lots of teaching to people visiting. Maybe also lots of help-the-vet type work. Beyond the conventional municipal zoo, there are also the animal parks, like those owned by the brewery. I don't think there are many farms which risk a diversity of animals anymore.
