What can I do with different educational degrees/majors?

I don't quite understand how majors work. How large of a role do they play in your career? For example, if I were to major in biochemistry what kind of career should I expect to have besides the typical doctor or engineering fields. What if I were to major in something irrelevant to what I want to become? For example, if I were to major in international relations but I wanted to become a accountant?

Majors play a huge role in your career. You typically major in what you want to become. If you want to be an accountant, major in accounting. If you want to be an international businessman, major in international relations. You can get other jobs without a degree in that field, but it is easier to get a job in your degree field... More
