College graduate with lost hopes?

I recently graduated New York University (NYU) with a degree in international politics. I maintained a 3.4 GPA not perfect but not horrible either. My parents are very poor so we barley could afford to make ends meet and I was working throughout my college semesters to help pay rent. However we could no longer afford the bills and we had to relocate to Miami, Florida to be with our relatives. I obtained a job as a bus boy and it is killing me knowing I worked so hard to graduate college and receive nothing in return. I was not interested in pursuing law because I have seen many unemployed attorneys and I can’t take any more debt. I am planning on enlisting in the military if all else fails. I am literally breaking apart I’m making minimum wage with a college degree were my debt exceeds my income. :…( What should I do?

The problem was your choice of major. Without a graduate degree in that area, there are no jobs available. You need a marketable skill. I would consider going to a technical school and learning something for which jobs are available – like air conditioning repair, windmill maintenance, or radiology.

Find work in a Cuban restaurant. Then talk to the customers and say how much you love Fidel Castro. You'll get to practice your International Politics all day. Who else should you blame for getting a worthless degree, besides yourself? Your GPA will probably be good enough to get into a masters degree program... More
