Which is a better idea? Getting a pirated version of Microsoft Office 2010, or OpenOffice for free?

I'm taking a Computer Science class in college right now, so that's why I need to download one or the either. The prof mentioned we need MO 10, but wouldn't OpenOffice do the same job? Or is it organized differently (the layout) than MO? I've actually already got the pirated version of MO 10, but I was wondering which is the better idea here. (Another reason against the pirated MO is that I'd need to stop it from updating, because it could blow my cover) Thanks.

Using the pirated version can get you into a lot of trouble. Ask the professor if you can use OpenOffice or LibreOffice instead of Microsoft Office.

For a CS class, Libre Office or Open Office should work just fine. However, talk to the folks at the Helpdesk or school bookstore or computer store, if there is one. Microsoft offers their software to most students at a huge discount. If your school qualifies then you may be able to take advantage.
