As an undecided voter living in VA after last night debate I've decided to vote Romney. Is it good choice?

Somehow I was not able to make any sense out of Obama explanation on issues and problems the country face. It was vague and seemed to lack any convincing argument. The structure and presentation was too messy. I could understand Romney very clearly. He was solid. His positions made sense and sounded good too. He did not use any complicated language and presented everything in layman terms. Obama was just confusing me more and more. I appeared to get lost while listening to him. Romney then clarified and it was as if he was holding a lamp in the dark and guiding me to the path. But with Obama speech, it just felt too dark and kind of uneasy. I found myself in comfort zone with Romney and his words put me at ease. So based on this debate I am voting for Romney. I will disregard any ads Obama gives on TV and I will also not need to see any romney ads. Debates is the only thing that matters to me.

It is beyond me how some of the American populace can even think about voting for Obama. I was a life long democrat who had to finally come to grips with the reality that Obama is a terrible President who lacks the skills necessary to operate and manage our government. I still cannot figure out how we can elect a man to the highest office in the land with no experience whatsoever. Would anyone in their right mind hire a CEO in the business community with no experience whatsoever to manage their corporation? That would be suicide.
Please try to address the following:
1. Obama claims that he was raised in poverty. That is false. He went to the most elite school in Hawaii- Punahou Schools. This school is the most expensive private school in Hawaii. I could not afford to send my children to this school. How can you support someone who distorts the truth?
2.Obama was raised in a dysfunctional family with a different set of values. How can you support someone with values and morals that run contrary to American values and morals? He attended a church for 20 years that practiced a theology that took the Lords name in vain during various sermons by his pastor. What Christian church do you know that practices that kind of theology?
3.Obama omitted that he did drugs throughout his teenage years and college life and admitted that he embellished his book with facts that were not accurate. How can you support a person who alters the truth to serve his own means?
4.Obama promised transparency. Yet he has made sure that all his records and his past are sealed and will not release any information. Is this what you want in a President who is supposed to be a model for others to follow?
5.Obama has complete disdain for the balance of power among three branches of government. He used his executive power to override what the Congress had enacted on several occasions.
Obama also uses his power to defend people who violate the law or to cover up their indiscretions.
6.I believe that the Obama’s operate the White House from a position of entitlement. I believe they feel they deserve all the benefits that this office has to offer. President Obama has played more rounds of golf in one year than Bush played in 8 years. And Michelle Obama has gone on many vacations that do not warrant her presence. How can anyone justify this behavior, especially in a time when so many Americans are suffering and unemployed? If I was elected President, I would not have played any rounds of golf nor allowed my wife to go on any trips out of sensitivity to the poor.
7. By law the executive branch is supposed to draft a budget. Yet we still do not have a budget. Who operates their household without a budget? This is crazy. When he was elected, he was suppose to develop and pass a budget and trim the budget down but instead we got 6 trillion more debt. There wasn’t even any effort to cut the debt. What is he thinking? How can anyone justify this? Does the national debt concern anyone? Do you realize that during the Great Depression those who saved their life savings lost everything?
8.I want a President who is not going to favor any particular race. I expect my President to be impartial to all races. Yet by executive order Obama recently created a separate office within the Dept. of Education for African Americans when we already have a division that is focused on protecting rights of minorities. How do you justify this? Are you going to tell me that we need to help Blacks in particular because they grew up disadvantaged? My parents were immigrants who could not speak English and had to walk the streets to find menial jobs. I was disadvantaged and yet I don’t expect the government to help me out. I rose out of poverty through my own efforts. Also when I do give to charities, I don’t select the charity based on race. I give to Foundations who represent all people. The Obama’s are selective- they give to Black Foundations and colleges. Should I give my donations to my particular race?
9.I am sick of hearing the narrative that the Republicans represent the rich. That was what I was told during my early years as a student in school until I finally woke up. The Republicans represent people who have conservative values who work every day just like anyone else. The Republicans subscribe to the ideology that limited government makes society run more efficiently. But more importantly, if businesses (especially small businesses) are not taxed heavily, they will use that money to expand their businesses and provide more jobs. Did it ever occur to any of you why 52?f college graduates can’t get jobs right now? Businesses are holding onto their cash because they are afraid of Obama’s policies. Do you think that is going to change if he is elected to a second term? My children and their college friends can’t find employment right now because there are no jobs.

Although I do not believe your words that you are "an undecided voter living in VA" because my guess would be you are someone who attended the Republicans' Bloggers' Convention each year and were told to portray yourself in the manner you have so that readers would be fooled into following along, I will take what you say at face value and say: Do not vote for empty-suited LYING Romney if you care about the future of this nation!

Pay attention to the words, and then review the past words: Romney is a pathological liar who will say anything and do anything to get his way even if that lie-based way spells doom for everything the United States of American stands for. Coporate raider, pet abuser, hate-crime committer against John Lauber who later committed suicide, the man is an absolute MENACE with an egomaniacal soiopthic bent.

Romney was strong, energized and excited. Obama looked bothered and awkward. Which one would I rather see running this country? The one who doesn't shrink when faced with a strong opponent! simple. Your vote is right, don't let the entitlement party change your mind with more of their star struck bull. Obama has had 4 years and he actually said "its not about what I have done....its about what I will do" I call bull#hit. It is ABOUT what he did now.

I am so glad to know that you have made a decision based on facts.

I am middle aged. Several years ago, I decided that there was not a single honest political ad, and that I needed to look elsewhere for my facts.

It takes longer, and truth is hard to find, but I can tell you from my research that Romney is exactly what this country needs to turn around from the financial disaster that is looming ahead. Economists with good track records (the ones who knew the 2008 collapse was coming) say that we are doomed if something doesn't change NOW.

Romeny presented everything in laymens terms because he has no real plan on how to run this nation.

He is just saying what it takes to sucker in the 'Merica crowd.
Answered By: Cybi - 10/4/2012
I agree that Romney handled himself better than Obama. But this poorly moderated debate should not be used to determine which candidate should get anyone's vote. There was no control whatsoever by Lehrer. He had very poorly constructed questions, which both candidates essentially ignored and talked about whatever they wanted. Time limits were ignored, the candidates were allowed to ramble on incessantly about their vague campaigns. It was more like the campaign buses running head on into each other rather than a debate. I heard nothing about either candidate that I didn't already know...basically I learned nothing about either person.
Answered By: tom - 10/4/2012
Well said. I'm not a big supporter of either candidate, but I'm very glad to hear that there are people listening with open minds.
Answered By: Dasher7476 - 10/4/2012
Yes.
We have had four years to see that Obama has no clue and thinks work is a drag. It's time to give Romeny a chance. At least he has experience in turning bad situations around and creating jobs.

Vote for a third party candidate. The two clowns in the debate will destroy the country.
Answered By: Anna, the wicked Libertarian - 10/4/2012
Romney keeps changing his position, which I suspect that he will also do in office. Also romney does not have any plan to create revenue, only to decrease spending. Which ultimately like Obama said will not decrease our debt, maybe just slow it down. The decrease in spending will be in assistance, so basically its going to be tough for people living in an already poor area, as people will likely revert to crime to make ends meet. The only positive I see with romney is by being a republican he may be able to make more moves that congress will vote for. And whether the movement is good or bad its still movement.

As far as Obama alot of his problems would be solved if he were able to increase the tax rate on large corporations and well to do people. In fact it states in the declaration of independence, that the people that have the power (rich people) are the ones responsible to keep our nation and government running. What Obama is asking for is not far fetched at all. And he is making spending cuts all over. He will just need a solid plan on how he will get congress to make moves so our country can grow.

That is my opinion on the two, although I am sure there is someone out there better then them both, actually I am positive there is someone out there better then them both.

What about the other debates? Are you really going to base your vote on who "sounds good"?

If you want to know how the candidates stand on various issues, look it up on the internet. Watching the debate is OK, too, but don't put everything onto this first round and ignore all else. Thank you for ignoring ads, though frankly the implication that anyone ever listens to them is disturbing.

So today I went in for an interview and I was going in for the 2nd interview by the head chief executive. now this is where it got weird, so she asked me about my previous jobs and said how much she liked that product over that product. then she started talking about her daughter? an her divorce ...then how she didn't finish college because she was making more money doing what she did for this company ... then she talked about how her teenage daughter is a handful... I just played it cool thinking she was using some sort of psychology thing to trick me into saying something stupid. the interview ended and she seemed happy an I was escorted to the door... now I'm freaking confused? is this normal behavior for an executive? like it felt like she was going to burst into tears at one point and tell me her life problems... is this normal? was she trying to see how I react or something?

Basically- no degree, although I have tried completing one in the past and stopped because of physical and mental health issues which were overwhelming to deal with along with going to classes full time. I'm not stupid and I am quite articulate. I am 23 and have only worked for about two years retail in high school and stopped working to go to university. I worked a few months in 2010 retail after I dropped out but it was only a seasonal position, and the only reason why I have not been able to constantly work is because of mental health issues. I had also tried going back to community college during my free time since i left university in 2008/9 and I had panic attacks while in community college, which made my anxiety worse from then on. Well recently I met a good doctor and he prescribed me some meds that are stabilizing my moods and I feel the best I've felt in years, and I'm ready to work. Thing is, I don't know how to get a job now since I've spent literally years being depressed and anxious doing nothing. I don't really have anything to put on my resume, and I never finished my AA degree either. All I've done is cashiering and although I do the job well and I get promoted easily when I do these jobs because I'm a hard worker and I try to go above and beyond what they ask of me,which is the attitude I have no matter what kind of work I'm doing as long as I'm getting paid. But I hate cashiering because it's too easy and I want a job that is more interesting. Any suggestions for me on how to get a job that is NOT Retail with the type of background I have right now? I also realize I have to go to college to get certain types of jobs, I am talking about what I can do right here right now.

Recently I have overlooked for a project at work and I am unable to accept it why? I am hard working, dedicated, maintain a very professional decorum, very cordial with my colleagues and bosses, give respect to one and all. Still people who take the p***, argue with managers, gossip mongers have been selected for some very responsible positions at work. I seriously can't get my head around it why, why unprofessional people who have no work ethics being selected over me, whereas I have a track record of excellent performance and never shy away from any work my manager ask me to do? I am at my lowest point and not getting hold of my manager to ask the question why not me, why them who can't even bother? I am feeling like a complete loser, giving years to this place, building my performance, trust and this is how I get rewarded. Why my life is so shit, anything I wish for turns to dust?

So I have a nice white button up shirt, business skirt and pants, and a suit jacket. I'm applying for a software development job and I'm very short and can look young so I'm trying to look adult, yet professional. I'm also attractive so I'm trying not to look too sexy. For the career fair I'm thinking of wearing just my nice shirt and a skirt with low heels. My reasoning being it's approachable and attractive without going overboard since the career fair hosts are mostly younger male recent grads. I want to be remembered but not intimidating. For my interviews I was thinking pants, suit jacket (power suit). My reasoning being it'll be older execs and HR people (mostly women) so less sexy with the pants but more powerful with the suit jacket. What do you think?!

How do I get my name out there? How much do event planners charge for their services?
