Do you have to report taxes in order to receive FAFSA?
Okay. So I'm a high school senior and I'm about to freak out seriously. I started my FAFSA application but did a little research and you have to put your parents tax returns. Am I screwed if my parents don't report taxes? Or how does it work? I'm lost...

If your parents were required to file a tax return, they must file the return in order for you to be eligible for FAFSA funds. yes you do, it is based on income. however, I am looking into it myself for next year. My parents got divorced and my dad isn't supporting me. So I am going to try to claim myself (I.E. use my own tax info). However, I don't know if I will be able to since I haven't held a job this past year.

since federal financial aid is supported with taxpayer dollars, of course your parents would have to file their taxes for you to be eligible.
