BT failed to install whats my options?

Just moved into a rented flat just over a month ago and decided to get BT vision and broadband. We decided on BT over sky as I have recieved terrible customer service from sky in the past and decided i'd never return. Anyway we ordered BT on 9th September and were told that the first availible slot that they could install was the 11th October. We knew this was over a month, a long time without the internet, phone or tv, but we were prepared to do this. Anyway one very long month later, the engineer came to set up the phone line so we can start enjoying our services, however he was not able to connect the phone line up as he was not able to connect the wires that connect the flat to the junction box, he spent over a hour and a half here so I doubt he was lying just to get a early night. He told me that BT will contact me in the coming days to rearrange. However, firstly I cannot wait another month, next I have taken a day off today for this appointment and cannot loose another days pay, and lets be honest why should I wait 2 months for them to connect me, especially as they charged me for the box and I will be paying £26 a month for the next year. Can anyone help and tell me my options.

You need to bend the ear of BT Customer Services. Explain that you have already lost income and ask them to compensate you accordingly. They should either defer payment or credit you in some way. Stay cool but be firm. If you get nowhere with the first person ask to speak to their supervisor.
