Can you offer any suggestions for a specific skill type resume with no verifiable history?

My company has a job opening for an entry-level maintenance technician. The job would require someone who can work on machinery including; KIVA robots (think giant un-manned Roomba that moves racks of product around) , conveyor belts, and overall maintenance of our warehouse and I am getting ready to apply for the position. My problem is that while I have worked on cars, household electrical appliances, etc. and built quite a bit of furniture (all of the skills used would be very useful in this position) none of it was ever done through an employer or schooling. What are some suggestions of what I should include in my resume to all least get myself into an interview where I know I can "sell myself" to the hiring staff? I really need and want this position for a few reasons, first is that I love working with my hands, then there is the fact that I love learning as much about the company that I work for as I can and this is an aspect I have yet to explore, and last but not least there is the fact that the pay is a lot better than what I am currently making. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
