how long does it take to be a dental assistant?

how long is the college course? i heard, you can easily walk into the dentist and ask for a job while training.ive done it once and the guy said they wont hire me. but if i do ever find on the job training, will college be worth it in the end? also what is the pay difference?

Anywhere from 6 months to a year, depending on where you get your training. When I went through a community college that offered a dental assistant and dental hygiene programs, they were both TWO year programs.
