What do you think about this guy character?

I'm writing a book and I'm worried my main male might not get the response I want from people, but especially women. Give me your honest opinion everyone: Jarahel is a prince. Not one in the typical sense. On his homeworld the monarchy only controls the finances for a seven continent alliance. Born second, his elder sister has taken the crown and having been involved with the political scandal of the century caused by the woman he was about to marry cheating on him for his best friend, he sells himself to the government as a mercenary. Worried about the political repercussions of possibly putting him on the front lines, the executive government assigns him to an outpost on another world that is being threatened by the cannibalistic enemy of the alliance. Earth has secretly been existing as a minor feeding ground for the cannibals for the past five hundred years. None of the humans know or can even see the monsters preying on them and so that's where the alliance comes in. Assigned to a world where only low class cannibal drones pose a minor threat, Jarahel isn't too excited about his job. That is until he is partnered with the Earth girl, Carla, only one of two humans that can see the drones. With blood red hair, clear artistic talent and an extreme distaste for anything male, she amuses him. Partnered with her, he begins to forget his heartbreak and begins to see her as more than just a little girl just in time to figure out there's more to her than meets the eye. Seeing the cannibals target Carla, Jarahel takes on a new purpose and that is to protect Carla. But despite how strong he is, nothing prepares him for when the cannibals send their elite hunters to capture Carla. Tapping into his mind using mind control, the hunters force him to throw Carla into their sacrificial pit to face the horrors that lay beyond its event horizon. Not every prince charming can save his princess. This is just a very vague bit from the first book. They get married at the end of the series for those of you who hate sad endings. :P

What kind of response are you hoping to get? It sounds like as long as you write him well, he'll be received just fine.
