In which industries do chemical engineers primarily work in offices?

I'm planning on majoring in chemical engineering in college, and I'm just curious as to what kind of setting chemical engineers work in. I know some work in offices and some in labs (or a combination of the two), but for me, and office setting where I can do calculations and design sounds more preferable. What kind of industry (such as pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and etc.) has chemical engineers primarily in this setting, or does the industry not matter?

The most common places to find chemical engineers are in offices and in manufacturing plants as supervisors or plant engineers. There are a few in some research labs for major chemical/refining companies. So the industry really doesn't matter that much. If you are good at your job you can usually pick your assignments... More
