My mom discourages me from watching LGBT themed films and is being ignorant ?

I am already out to family. However my mother seems to be determined to keep my sexuality awkward and prevent me from being comfortable with it.She always makes jokes like after I'm done with high school,I should just become a fashion designer, beautician or any other stereotypically gay job.No disrespect to people in those jobs(gay or not gay),but I get very pissed off it often sparks arguments after the other.I want to be either a Nurse, a Psychiatrist or a Pipe Designer for an engineering firm.Worst she often compares me with her friend's gay son who dropped out of high school in his senior year, ran off with some dude thrice his age and now lives in El Salvador.I am smarter than that. My education is very important to me.I also have standards when it comes to picking guys. She believes the stereotypes of gays that although I am not like that, she believes in the near future I will start cross dressing. She tells me my looks are wasted because it's not intended to please women and same sex relationships are not real relationships. I watch LGBT movies on NetFlix and she saw it and said "Stop watching these gay movies, you're really starting to embrace and be comfortable with being gay. That's very embarrassing"I replied "It's just a love story, just like any love story but with gay characters".She then tells me it's "disgusting".She claims to "not care anymore"if I'm gay but I can tell she hates it.I cannot even talk about my issues to my parents because they make me feel awkward. They encourage my brother to get a girlfriend and bring her home to meet her but she discourages me from bringing a boy into the house. They immigrated from a different part of the world, they can't seem to move past the stereotypes back home. She even tried to set me up with their friend's daughters. My dad is more accepting of me,but my mom....

Remind her again that love between two straight people is just as powerful as the love in a gay relationship. In a few yee, ars, that won't be a big deal. It won't mean anything. How did slavery come to and end. It took a long time and this might, too. There are still people today that tend to have racists mind-sets... More

Ignore anything she says, no matter how homophobic. Stop replying to her when she insults homosexuality in any way. Eventually she'll give up and leave you alone once she sees that nothing she says is getting to you.
