How did the American System make America stronger in the 1800s?

PLEASE EXPLAIN I DONT UNDERSTAND... I asked this before and no one knew what the American system was so i will explain it... In the 1800s after the war of 1812 America created the American system because they wanted to make America stronger and unify it. Basically, the American system has 4 parts: 1) it provides Americans with jobs by promoting the industrial revolution with machines instead of by hands. 2) It provides Americans with transportation systems to help the factory system transport raw materials to factories and finished products to the customers.( national roads, rail roads, & canals) 3) It provided protection for their factory made products by imposing a tariff on imported products. (a tariff is a tax on imported goods) 4) continued maintenence of a National Bank which provided one main place for the government to deposit its money and for businesses to deposit and borrow money. I understand what the American System is, i just dont understand how those things made America stronger?
