Is there a reduction in SSI benefits if an adult child lives with a parent?
I have just graduated from college and am going to be searching for a job soon. My mom does not want me to use her address for my job search because she said her benefits would be reduced if I start earning income. If I am not paying rent would her benefits still be reduced? What would be a good way around this situation? I want to save up and get a place of my own, but I don't want my mom to lose income because of it.

Your income does not count towards her SSI. SSI is based on personal income (would include spouse), NOT household income. If you pay her nothing to stay there, no effect on her SSI, you could be earning $100k, does not matter.

Only if he or she is a midget.

SSI is based on household income, so any income you earn will affect her benefits. She must report any income within the household. There is no way round this situation except committing fraud by not reporting your income.
