How to get my character away from the office for a few days?
I'm currently writing a short story, my main character is the boss and my other main character is his secretary. I want my secretary to get a promotion to assistant when they prove they can run the office when the boss isn't there, the only problem is, this means I need to get the boss out of the office for a few days. Any ideas on reasons he might be called away?

The boss in your story could have been called away for something as simple as a wedding or a funeral.
