What maintenance do you recommend for my 2001 Toyota Corolla?
I have over 100,000 miles on it. It burns oil like crazy, so I just check it often and add more. I get it totally changed with a new oil filter once a year. The car runs great. I haven't done any other maintenance in a few years. The oil started burning like crazy 5 years ago. I did some research and this was common for some cars according to what I read online. The dealer changes it and there is no problem. The car runs GREAT. My highway mileage is 34.

Oil service once a year? No wonder this engine is ruined. You need a new one. The engine has suffered premature and catastrophic excessive wear due to lack of proper oil service schedule. Sorry. Speak with a mechanic for expert advise.

If you open and read that owners manual in the glove box(it's under all those old registration and insurance cards). There is a manufacturer maintenance schedule for the car. You have prematurely done significant damage to that motor that should have given you 300k before the oil problem you are now having.
