Has anyone on this site had experience with arthritic psoriasis?

I have a friend whose granddaughter has this terrible condition. Her skin looks like fish scales, alternating with huge boils. Her hands and feet are so swollen, she can no longer work (she is 21). It has affected her spine, and she has to use a TNS unit constantly. She has been told there is a medication for the condition, but one injection costs $5,000, not covered by insurance. Does anyone know of a person who suffers with this, and what they have done for it? This girl is presently seeing a rheumatologist as well as a dermatologist. They have told her it is an immune system disorder, similar to lupus. They're not giving her much hope for improvement, much less a cure.

I think I know the injections you are talking about, is it one of the biologic drugs (enbrel humira)?? They are expensive but that is what I am on and it has changed my life. I have minimal... More
